Congratulations on your new baby! I would go ahead and start w/ crate training and leaving in overnite (abt 5-6am) or whenever you get up.Line the crate w/ newspaper, also feed them in the crate. He will learn that that is his "den" which is a natural place for dogs that signify's safety. I wouldn't get the pup get used to sleeping w/ you they don't know when/when not to poop at first. After you become more comfortable w/ housetraining then I would go ahead and allow them more freedom. The best thing is to have a schedule for eating, waters, naps and potty time. Give him huge amnt of praise when he does what he is supposed to. The smaller dogs have VERY SMALL bladders and training can be hard especially when you're getting him so young and hasn't finished his training from his mother, but if you are patient and persistent it will all work out. Hopefully you don't get too frustrated---it is equivalent to having baby of your own--much responsibility butit is fun and is a journey. You shld feed twice daily and probably do a mix of puppydry/moist foor or jst wet the dry and let it sit to soften awhile prior to feeding; right after he eats take OUTSIDE start to use the same word to signify what you are going outside to do "POTTY" works well also. If you absolutely CANNOT take outside after meals then leave them crated until you can. Goodluck again
