General Lee, who is now 2 years old, was only 6 weeks old when we brought him home. I put a play pen with papers next to my bed. He slept with us, but when he would wake up I put him into the pen and he was not allowed out until he went on the papers. We did have some accidents, non on the bed, but with in no time he was on potty pads and outside. We get some pretty cold days here during the winter and I found that the potty pads work well. He still uses them early in the morning or in the middle of the night. When he had an accident we diverted his attention and cleaned it up. We have never yelled or done any thing negative to him when he has had an accident. Lots and lots of praise (still do) when he went on the pad and I gave him cherrios as a treat.
