I've been around horses almost all my life and most horses really like dogs. My dad used to have race horses and often the "stable dog" would wander around and somehow choose the most nervous horse to befriend. Some race horses also have roosters for stall mates.
The only time horses do not like dogs is when the dog is darting around under the horses feet. They hate when they can't see what's going on by their feet.
