I had never heard of this unit and I looked it up. There are many things that work, but most take consistent owner involvement, in other words, you have to use the aversive sound every time the dog barks, and most owners are hit and miss, or if it doesn't work the first or second time they give up. Furthermore, the owner often gets agitated, and this is always going to increase barking. This unit actually detects the sound, and the owner doesn't have to do anything. To the OP, I think I would move before I got rid of the dog, I think you are sending your son a horrible message if you decide to get rid of the dog, this can be a chance to teach your son something really important about pets and our responsibilities to them.
