I can assure you that I am perfectly aware of what issues and behavior are typical for expecting females, having experienced much of it first hand myself on more than one occasion. However, when the problem persists for 4 days to the point of your female acting the way you described, then it is time to take precautions and rule out more severe causes. "As you can read" there are other possible issues, aside from hypoglycemia that others mentioned.
Given that she is eating now and feeling better, it's entirely possible that could have been the problem. In any case, it easily could have been something more. And I'm sorry, but I stand by what I said--if your vet was made aware of the issues you were having and they blew it off only giving you the advice to "give her some honey", then IMO, I would be looking for a new vet, If your vet is more involved with the situation than that, then that is a relief...but you never indicated that was the case, so please don't fault myself or anyone else for thinking that. |
Lol.
First. Her acting odd was my observing the difference between a dog in heat and a dog not in heat. The do act odd. Second, she has thrown up once her entire pregnancy. Third, her week of scratching was odd for me as she normally doesn't do this. What I did not know at the time and what I know now is that pregnancy and hormone changes can cause this. None of these things are a huge health concern....nothing at all to imply that she is not fit for carrying a litter for petes sake. If you read you would have seen that she WAS NOT eating properly this week....which when all info was giving to her vet....and he has known her since a pup...he knew that she needed extra dietery care till she picked up on the dry food eating. Nothing more, nothing less. Had I spoken to him and claimed she was shaking day in and day out then he would have taken her without so much as asking one measly question. He heard me say that at the end of the day for a few days she was shivery......bringing on the food questions....knowing then what she needed.
My vet doesn't blow anything off. If you would have read before posting you would have seen that his advice was perfect and that she is well. Instead you jump into one of my threads AGAIN with your negative attitude which I will just have to learn to ignore. I am hear for learning and ideas.....and to befriend people who have attitudes that are positive in this very exciting time for me and my girl.
Oh, in answer to one of your questions....I am ALWAYS concerned. Every day I am concerned. My girl is MY GIRL. I love her just as you love any of your dogs. For the love of all....I ask BECAUSE I am concerned!!!!!!!!
If you have any further issues with me, my dog, or my vet you can feel free to inbox me as this thread is not meant for this crap. I will do the same.
