I agree with Megansmomma. As much as I hate to read of animal abuse, I think it is important that we all understand and are reminded from time to time that it DOES happen. We all need to remain vigilant to what we can do to prevent it in our own circles.

I think the forum is a slice of life and life, unfortunately does have sad and disturbing sides. It also has compassionate, wonderful, happy sides too. You just need to take it all in, filter as needed, and hopefully the good will always outweigh the bad.

If we put all the sad and disturbing news in one forum, it will likely get avoided by the majority of the readers. Somedays I do avoid a thread if the title sounds too upsetting and I am not feeling strong enough to deal with the emotions that follow. But other days I will read them and then pick my little ones up and give them an extra hug. Also reminds me to send a little something to one of the rescues. I don't want to stick my head in the sand all of the time.
