i dont think is too late. We got our first yorkie at a year and a half and he didnt know any commands. My hubby taught him to sit and shake a paw etc. and he learned very quickly.
I think if you try and teach them too much too young then they cant pay attention as well and get confused.But your little one is getting older and shouldnt have a problem I wouldnt think.
