I got a NEW SLR camera (Cannon Rebel xTi- i think...) for my birthday- SO Happy. However, no matter WHAT i do (except if I turn off the flash) I always catch Layla with her eyes closed. It's like the flash goes- she closes her eyes- the picture is taken - and this is assuming i can get near her with the camera- the little clicking noises it makes scare the crap out of her. Any thoughts on getting her with her eyes open?

Also when I am in CR mode (creative or something) and I want to play with the blur background function- I can't. I know that the pop up flash has to be down- fine i do that- i fix the blur setting and then i go to take the picture adn the flash pops back up and thus the blur background setting disables- any thoughts? I am going to take lessons, but until i get there- just wanted to know how to do it.
