Try to put yourself in her shoes, you've been home all summer with her and now you are gone for 9 hours a day, and she has no idea why. A couple of other thoughts, her "jail" may seem more like her home, and the carpet could seem more like outside. Also, I was wondering if she's been spayed, and if her hormones are contributing to her problem. I do know that she senses your anxiety and frustration, and this isn't good for her, she is trying to tell you that something's wrong, but I don't think she's trying to punish you. Remember too, they can hold it longer overnight then they can in the daytime. Urine production slows down at night. |
I've considered day care, but I leave so early and there's no place nearby or on my way. I would be willing to get another dog to keep her company, but I'm afraid of making this whole problem worse. I used to ignore accidents, but lately where I can see it's different is when I put her in her crate. I also put her in there while I clean it up because she tries to steal the gross paper towel from me. She would eat it if she got it. She loves to eat paper (or anything).
I have wondered if it could have to do with her not being spayed. I plan to get her spayed soon, but I was hoping to find a cheaper estimate than my vet gave me.
