Reading dog 'body language' Isn't it funny how instinct just takes over when it comes to protecting your pets? It's not like you have much time to think to yourself.....ok, other dog has ears flipped back, is directly staring, baring teeth, or going totally still before a strike. Danger!
When I was 8 months pregnant (many, many years ago!) I stepped in front of a charging German Shephard to protect my Golden Retriever at our local park. Of course, my dog was on lead but the GS was not. I just 'knew' that the threat was to my dog, not to me. (Luckily the GS owners caught up quickly & had the situation under control.) It was still such a frightening experience! And my dog was large enough to actually defend herself.....I can't imagine this happening to my Yorkie.
Congrats to all owners for their fast reflexes! |
