Because Syd is on a strict potty schedule, I don't give treats in between meals until she's housebroken. If you don't want to spray him, the best alternative is to switch his attention to a toy. Also, if he's biting you, push your hand into his mouth. This will force him to let go. Second, and this one is controversial, flip him over on his back until he calms down.

I actually prepared myself last night and put a glove on and he was GOOD!! he did not hardly fight me at all! Oh My GOODNESS, he is getting better with me putting him on his back but used to freak out. I am teaching him that it is ok and I just rub his tummy.
