If she is eating regularly, I have no need to worry about hypoglycemia, etc. (Of course, it is much easier to potty train when you have definite meal times.)
Also, I have three cats in my home that literally dwarf my new puppy; I have purchased a collapsible (net & canvas) 'house' for her to stay in at night & when I am away. There is a zippered door that I can close or leave open for her to come & go to eat, sleep, or potty on a small pad throughout the day. (I cut the smallest puppy pads in half.) I can also zip up or unzip the ceiling so that the cat's won't jump inside when I can't supervise.

I think the cat bell is a GREAT idea. I can't tell you how many times we stepped on Rebels paws because he too gets underfoot. We look to see if he is there and he's not than all of a sudden a loud whimper. :-(
