Cavities are rare in dogs. Usually they lose teeth due to a lot of tartar build up and infection in the gums...which leads to instability in the tooth. Are you sure he said cavity? Or, did he just say he had to pull one?
I have had many dentals done on pups and have only seen one cavity; but have seen many teeth that had to be extracted.
