My vet waits until their adult teeth are in to do the spay. That way he can also pull any baby teeth that haven't fallen out. I didn't get Maddie and Libby spayed until they were around 7-7 1/2 months, and I'll probably wait even longer to have Faith done, since she's small. Neither of my dogs went into heat before that time. If you get your baby spayed at 6 months, she likely won't be at the point where the baby teeth can be pulled and then she would have to be put under again in a month or two, to have her baby teeth pulled. As far as the dew claws, I have heard how terribly painful it is to have them removed once they are past the newborn stage. I wouldn't put a dog through that.
