you and your family are so good to have taken him in. Your vet is right to worry about putting him under for a teeth cleaning but it does sound like he really needs one. the rest of his teeth are probably so rotten that they are held in with tartar. once clean they will probably just pop out. its unfortunately but i've seen it many times. I would ask your vet if there are any specialists in teh area that could do the dental. this way your yorkie will be heavily monitored during the surgery and he'll be with experience people who will know what to do if a problem arises. there's not much you can do with brushing or a spray. Antibiotics are probably a good idea tho to help knock out an infection.
