Lace was sort of like that when she first came to live with us. She would rather sleep in her crate and not be bothered. She is going to be 9 in December and I figured it was because she was older and just didn't want to be messe with. Slowly she has started to want up on the couch and just lay next to you. She also barks when she wants to be let up on the bed. We took her on a hike a few weeks ago that she loved, so everytime she sees us put our tennis shoes on she will bark at us to be cuddle...so we take her with.
