I, too, am sorry for Joey's fear; but, you may have found this a blessing in disguise, since he does not appear harmed. It's really not a good idea for our little ones to jump. Period. Some find it impossible to keep them down, since they think they're invincible. But, little legs can break so easily.

Though it's hard to see him not enjoying this "athletics" , I, personally, would take advantage of this time, and DIScourage his jumping from the sofa back.
