If your vet (or any vet you've called) won't do palpitation; which seems odd, and you really want to know for sure whether she is pregnant or not, then definitely do the ultrasound this week. I understand that it is not entirely accurate for counting how many puppies, but it will detect pregnancy (or not) without a doubt. If she is pregnant and especially if it is a first time for either or both of you, then I highly recommend doing an xray 1 week prior to her due date for an idea of how many pups and size in comparison to her birth canal. Just do not have it done til she is at least 8 weeks along.

I had an ultrasound done on Halle this pregnancy since I was very unsure if she was (she had a singleton). I was surprised that it was only $40 and even more surprised that an x-ray (with 2 views) was $75. I was thinking that the ultrasound would have been the more expensive one.
