Rachel,
Your description of Nala's spending less time with the baby sounds normal from what I've experienced, however I agree with Dee that she should definitely be spending the nights with the puppy............especially since she is a singleton. She has no siblings to snuggle up with to keep warm and also should be able to nurse when she is hungry. During the day also Nala should have access to her baby at all times & if you even think the puppy might be crying because she is hungry, put her to mama and make sure Nala allows her to nurse for a little while.
