I have found that taking short trips away from the house gets them used to you coming back.

Couver was a re-home on Craigslist, so I think that he was worried every time that I left that I would not come back

It made me so sad to leave him, because I know he worried about this. Now that I have come back everytime, he knows that I will not ever leave him, and he is ok when I leave.
