I'm not sure how old the puppies will be. The breeder just said "around Christmas". I don't want to get the puppy too early, for the reasons you mentioned. So, if I have to wait a little while longer that will be fine. I have already found a ton of useful information on this site! The only concern I have with this breeder is her pets are not AKC registered, but CKC registered.
