There are almost 55,000 members on YT, and it is more common for someone to seek help for a sick or injured yorkie, than to post a msg. stating "hey, my yorkie is healthy"...I, also, believe that those members saying that there are way too many people breeding for profit (puppy mills, etc.) has something to do w/it, too...And, as another member stated, it's probably just as rampant w/all the other breeds, we just don't hear about it...For instance, did you know that papillions are more likely to get LP than yorkies...It's a inherent trait in that breed, as well...But there are no real guarantees, even w/reputable breeders...I had a registered English Mastiff from a reputable breeder/shower that gave me an 18 month guarantee on her hips (both her parents were certified in the high clear range)...She had the defect, and I contacted the breeder, who said she'd exchange for another dog....Yeah right, after 15 months, I don't think so...I don't think yorkies are more likely to be any worse off, than any other breeds...It's the same w/humans...Some are healthy, some or not, but you probably hear more about the ill ones than the well ones...
