when morgan was spayed i did get rimadyl for her. i got a 25mg pill split 4 ways. i was to give her a 1/4 every 24 hours (i only gave it the day after surgery...she didn't really need it). if i recall the dose of rimadyl in mgs is their weight in pounds multiplied by 2. so at 3lbs her dose would be 6mgs. take a 25mg rimadyl and split it in 4 and each piece is 6.25mg. which is the correct dose for her size. so they can give it and its perfectly safe. a lot of vets like to give rimadyl twice a day but its just as good to get once a day. that's probably why they say they can't give it to small dogs. they want to give it twice a day in which case her dose would be 3.1mgs which is hard to accurately split.
