Bitter Apple spray is available at pet supply stores, such as Petsmart and the like. It is bitter tasting and it will deter most doggies, but not all of them. You can also spray it on a spot on the carpet where they start to pull at the threads. Some people rub a cheap, clear stick deodorant on woodwork and furniture to deter them and that also works for some. Good luck.
