i had the same problem gatsby is almost a year and five pounds on the dot my vet told me to wait and see and nutering because he has medication sensitivities(he is allergic to every chemical in the world!!!!)he could not use advantage because it made all his hair fall out however he became aniemic because of fleas and had to have a transfusion for that he had to be put under a seditive it was so strong it knocked him out but when he woke up he was fine and happy and we had no real problems (a little shivering)so if your vet is careful then he should be fine gatsbys going in for his birthday dec 1st
