I would not do a hard switch. I had a Lhasa Poo that had fall allergies till she got older. Are you sure it's the food and not something in the air? We knew it was allergies with the Lhasa Poo because it was every fall she would chew one of her back legs so bad we had to bandage it and put her on steroids. It lasted a few weeks then she was fine till the following year. As she got older it stopped but it happened for several years. My Yorkie doesn't itch she's fine.
