I know that prices vary in different parts of the country. That seems a little higher than what I pay here in GA. My vet will spay/neuter for me with a pup at 16 weeks and at least 2 lbs. They use Sevoflurane and always ask if I want them to do Pre-surgical blood work. They don't give me an option on the Bordetella nasal drops and I know that doesn't even become effective for a few days. They ask about pain meds and I always say if needed although it's been my experience that the younger ones usually don't need the pain meds. Unless there's an undecended testicle the incision is very tiny and they are bouncing around the same evening. They don't even lick it. As they get older it becomes a different story and they seem to have more pain and lick, lick, lick.
My concerns about leaving them overnight is there isn't anyone there after they close except for a tech that is suppose to come and check on the animals around 11PM. Using the Iso or Sevoflurane allows the vet to bring the animal around much faster without long term drowsiness and I've always felt having my post-surgical pups with me was better than leaving them wondering where they are and alone.
