first advice, get him neutered, that may stop the marking altogether and solve the whole issue!!
secondly: i read somewhere that if i dog doesn't learn to be in a room with you and the "pack" they will think it's okay to pee there because that's not the den. you have to get him used to your living room with the whole family in there and around him and watching him so he knows that the pack uses that room and it's also off limits for a pee.
always use enzyme cleaners when he does pee on something to get the smell out so he wont' remark the area
and lastly try the blankets over you carpet, get some at a garage sale or thrift store. you can easily spray them with enzyme and machine wash them to get the whole smell out and it totally saves your carpet. big comforters are not easy for the pee to soak through so the carpet stays dry and you can clean up easier in training.

I would have never thought of that. I will try the blankets over the "trouble" areas. Maybe I should sleep in the living room a few nights... haha
