As a breeder, I require $500 deposit. I take personal check or money order. The balalnce must be paid in full by cash at time of pick up. I like the traditional methods of payment.

As a buyer, I call the BBB to make sure there aren't any complaints, Look up the AKC banned list of breeders, I do a search google and yahoo for the name to see if there are complaints lingering. I also ask for a reference from their vet. I perfer to pay with my Debit Card (MC) through paypal or give the number over the phone because you can dispute it if the deal goes sour. I acutally had a situation where I did that and never received the puppy. I was able to dispute the transaction and received a full refund.
