Shadow is going through something like this. He coughs about 2-3 a day, more like a gagging sound. It seemed to happen the same day he got a bordatella shot. I took him to another vet and he gave him some pills to stop the coughing. He's suppose to take it twice a day for 10 days. If that doesn't help he's going to give him antibiotics. The vet pressed somewhere on his throat with induced a cough. So i'm assuming shadow has kennel cough.
