I was wondering? Is it normal that Nala spends very little time with the baby. I mean Nala feeds her regularly and comes running when other people touch the puppy but thats about it. Nala lets her cry (I say shes ferberizing but my hubby freaks out lol) and Nala sleeps on our bed at night while the puppy is in the basket next to the bed... It just seems strange to me but maybe this is totally normal... Help me out here lol
Thanks

some mothers are like that BUT YOU should not allow her to sleep away from the baby. Poor little thing needs it's mama. You should have had a closed off space that she couldn't escape from the baby to keep them in. She is crying because she is hungry, probably cold and just plain needs her mother. Under no circumstances should you be allowing her to abandon this baby like she is. if you were not prepared for this, it iss not too late. Go to the grocery or somewwhere and get a big box that she can't jump out of. Put the basket in one end and a pee pad in the other and MAKE her stay. Your baby is hungry. I am repeating myself here so I'll just hush. But even when they get old enought to wean, mama should be put in every two hours thru the day for awhile and always at night for all night long until they are about eight or nine weeks old. You are the person in charge . I'm sorry but this just upsets me. I have had mamas TRY to do that and as a breeder, it is up to me to see that my babies are taken care of. She won't like it but the baby is what matters most at this point.
