I don't have a yorkie yet, but when I do I'm going to use we we pads exclusively, and I'm thinking of putting one in a litterbox ( I heard that the puppy litter is actually a nightmare). If you go onto petedge.com you can get like 200 we we pads for really cheap. Of course this is my plan, I don't know how it will work in reality. If you're worried about smell, you can get petscents in vanilla or something to mask any smells and if you don't want to look at the we we pad, you can put it in the litter box and kind of hide it somewhere (in a corner behind a fake plant?) that is also easily accessible for the pup. Again, this is just a plan in my head for now until I get a pup, but I thought it might help.
