I'd look at it this way, if smokers can quit after years of smoking and have their lungs generally clear for the better I don't think a few weeks of being around a person who smokes will hurt your puppy as long as he wasn't blowing it into your puppy's face. They will probably get more exposure to foul fumes from car exhaust emissions on walks than from second hand smoke. Others may disagree but that's my opinion. Perhaps the breeder didn't smoke in the kennel area anyway if the parents were healthy.
