My moms stay with their puppies until they leave for their new homes. I allow her to self-wean them. At 4 weeks I put ground up puppy food in for the puppies and it stays there 24/7 so they can eat whenever they want. Mom also has her food available 24/7 and the puppies will nibble on that too. I gradually grind the food up less and less through the weeks until they are on full size kibble.
