This is my first time but I can tell you what I've learned so far...
You will need a good quiet & comfortable area in your home to be ready for the momma to start nesting a week or two before birth and she will get comfortable in this spot. It needs to be like a closet or somewhere with little traffic and non-drafty so the pups can stay warm. Here are a list of supplies, I may be forgetting to leave something out so anyone please feel free to add or remove as this is my first time as well. Now hopefully momma will do everything and all you will need to do is watch but you need to br prepared just in case.
Plenty of blankets & towels
Unwaxed dental floss or string
Hemostats
Scissors for umbilical cord
Puppy bottles
Supplemental milk like Just Born
Gloves
Scale to weigh them (found mine on ebay)
Heating pad or something to keep the pups warm
Pee pads or newspaper
Iodine for umbilical cords
Baby bulb to suck out mucus from nose & mouth
Strings or collars for their necks to distinguish who's who.
If I think of anything else I will let you know, I'm half asleep right now. Lol
