She was probably about 5-6 mths old when we realized we were being dissed. We're not the brightest bulbs in the lamp. She ignored the name and us. We finally gave up and tried several names, each one for about a day, she ignored and ignored. One day we tried Buffy, she flipped her head around and came, and she has responded to that name ever since. She picked her own name. Took about six names for us to get it right.

Your post and really this whole thread brings an amazing yet heartbreaking book to my mind. It was called A Dogs Life. Can't think of the author but I could find it. Anyway it is about the life of a dog told through the dogs eyes. As the dog is passed from family to shelter to family it keeps getting its name changed...so sad but so well written. I love your Buffy story. So nice you did that.

I do love the name Fiona, but it is pretty important that your sweet girl comes to her name. Gracie is so beautiful too.
