She'll be fine, esp. if she doesn't respond to her name now. I volunteer at a shelter, and those dogs get at least three names: the one they originally had, the one the shelter gives them, and the one the new owners give them.
Part of the doggie training we do is teaching them their new name (which to a dog just means, "look at me"). Say her new name, and give her a treat if she looks at you. Repeat at least 25 times. |
