Amands,
Bing Bing Bing, you just made a light go off. My vet, groomer and I had all talked about this hair issue, and could think of nothing, and vet checked and couldn't find anything. Your comment just made me realize. Preston is allergic to frontline and advantage. The first thing we used was late last summer, advantage, and he scratched like crazy till we washed it off. Didn't use anything again till early in the spring, vet had us try frontline. The frontline was even worse than the advantage, as it made actual blisters on his skin within 15 min. of putting it on, we hurriedly washed it off, called the vet, he had us give him benadryl and put some cream on it. Within a few days it was looking fine, but although there had been a small area where the hair was doing that previously, this spring is when it started to get to be a longer stripe down his back. Consequently about the same length of the stripe of blisters he had down his back and off from the stripe where the frontline had kind of spread. He no longer has new shorter hairs coming in, and the ones are getting longer and starting to turn silver at the base, but it does make sense that this may be what the issue was with Preston.
Thanks for the insight!!!
Michelle
By the way, the vet thought this reaction was bad enough that he had me submit a report and complaint to Frontline and the FDA.
