I had a girl go in heat about a month ago and I know she did not get with a male. She has milk pockets and has gain weight. Her vulva is still swollen as well. I also had one back in July I thought was because I breed her a few times. She gained over a pound, got the milk pockets, was still swollen so I took her to the vet for an xray and no pups. This girl went as far as to nest with her toys in my laundry hamper and growled at everything that went by. After a few days after she would have been due she was back to normal.
Even with that said since you were not with her the whole time I would go get her checked again to make sure. If she is a bigger female 1 could hide in there. I always say it is better to be safe. My vet keeps my chart out on top of the filing cabinet because I run in there so much about everything..lol
