They are much different.
As far as I have seen, PetTabs are basically the equivalent of a human multivitamin for dogs. BalanceIT has everything you need to feed a homecooked diet. There probably isn't nearly as much calcium in PetTabs and the calcium/phosphorus ratio may not be balanced. Over time this can lead to blood and heart problems. So while PetTabs would probably be able to be used in a homecooked diet, you would need to add other things and have it balanced by a nutritionist.
