Its been done in studies for acne, benzyol peroxide vs tea tea oil. The both worked about as accurately (tea tree oil was slightly less effective but not by much) expect that the tea tree oil effects tended to take longer.
Personally, I think it works as an anti-yeast/bacteria/fungal because it is drying and its harder for it to grow.
