My husband and I recently switched Lola from wee wee pads to going outside for sanitary reasons. I'm not a neat freak but I just like my apartment to look and smell a certain way. To my surprise, she did better going outside than she did using the pads and that made us both very happy
I am trying to stay as consistent as possible with her schedule and that has made all the difference. I watch her very closely all day to avoid accidents and take her out 3 times a day. She seems to like going out a lot more than the pads and has not had an accident since the switch. My advice is to learn your pups schedule and try to adhere to it. Figure out how long it takes for them to go after they eat. The first walk may take a while before they understand what you want them to do so try not to get discouraged. It took Lola about an hour the first time before she got it. It may help if you time it for when you know they have to go. Give lots and lots of praise and don't give up!
