The AKC registry, American Kennel Club is the more responsible one. Dishonest people can take advantage of nearly anyone anywhere and that includes even the AKC ,(but they have been around the longest in North America) and in certain situations, do try to go after breeders who break their many rules.

So if you asked the person who you got your dog from if it was registered and she said yes.....she wasn't lying, just not saying what registry the pup was actualy with.

That is not really your fault, until recently, I thought that the American Kennel Club was the only purebred dog registry. There are other dog registries that are the equivalent to the American Kennel Club, the Canadian Kennel Club and I think the UKC,(the British version of the American Kennel club). There are other organizations that register dogs that have simlar sounding names. In other words you may find a dog club with eihter the AKC, CKC or UKC initials, but they don't stand for the origional names and I do belive this is to take advantage of flolks who don't really know to what to ask except if the dog is registered.

I'm sleepy now,if someone can explain that better, please do, I hope I didn't write that too confusingly.

If you have some concerns, it may be harder to check out the parantage of your puppy. I am not familiar with the ACA. Check to see if they have a website and take a good look around it and get familiar with it.

You can also check out the AKC website, you'll find lots of great info there too!

Enjoy your baby no matter what.
Unfortunately Yorkies are quite popular now and folks can pretty much get what they ask for them. If it makes you feel better, I paid even more for mine,(American Kennel Club) and still did not get a show quality dog. But she is mine forever and I love her no matter what.
