The only way a microchip will work is if who ever finds the dog takes them to the Vet and the vet scans them.

If someone finds a dog that is microchipped and doesnt take them to the vet no one will know

or If someone finds a dog that is microchipped and takes them to the Vet and the vet doesnt scan them then they wont know

I honestly think if I lost Peanut I wouldnt get him back, just bc he is a yorkie, and he is small. But there is that 1% chance of a good person will get him and return him, and thats why I had it done.
Just bc you microchip does not mean you will get your dog back, I think its just the owners HOPE

My exp in the vet I worked in everyone that came in with "new dogs" or just dogs in general wouldnt always get scaned...Now if you call your vet and they know your dog is missing and they see a dog come in that looks like your dog they will scan him

It all depends on the vet, and the people
