Go for it! You are right to think about getting a larger one though. I know people with little yorkies where their yorkie has broken its leg just from jumping off of the couch! Buster & Bailey are so adventureous & playful, and my husband told me that it's a good thing they aren't smaller because we may have broken them by now (jokingly of course!). We expected them to be about 6 & 8 pounds full grown according to the vet & the breeder, but they are 10 & 13 pounds and we love every inch of them! I have no children, but Buster & Bailey are around kids all the time and LOVE all people, and all dogs for that matter. If they're around kids for long consecutive periods of time, I can see them looking at me like "come on, mom, can you make these kids go away now?" - but they've never once done anything mean or as much as growled at anyone & they're 11 months old now. I'm sure that if you decide to raise a pup in your home, it will be used to being around your family & love all of you!!
