She's been in a crate her whole life and I just wanted to be able to change that and give her a little more freedom. I think it can be done but as one poster said, it has to be baby steps.
dont feel bad that she is confined when you are there; she will just relax and sleep. it's better than being stressed and anxious waiting for you. i used to let my dog run free; not only she destroyed the house; but in the process she developed severe gastritis; i guess from stress and whatnot and that took a toll on both of us. so now i keep her in her pen when i am at work and she sleeps most of the time. and she seems much better. they are not like us; they dont mind being confined, especially if she's used to it. if u let her run free and then u decide to confine her, it will be harder on her. so i think it's best if you resume your previous routine. good luck
