Please please please don't use the shock collar. It's inhumane. From what I've heard it's even banned in a lot of parts of the world, including Australia.

Apparently dogs feel the zap more than we do. So if you use it on your hand and it hurts a little, your little baby hurts probably 10 times worse. Poor thing, please don't do that to him.

I agree, exercise would be the best thing. A tired dog is a good dog.

Also, how do you react when he barks. Have you tried ignoring him instead of getting all worked up, or telling him to shut up? In a dog's mind, any attention is better than no attention. So as long as he can get your attention, he doesn't care if it's negative or positive. He feels rewarded by getting ANY kind of attention.

Wish you luck. Let us know how you do. I know it's a big problem to deal with, especially in an apartment. But it's doable.
