Glad to hear you are already in love with her and want to stand by her. I love the look of a real chocolate Yorkie. It is one fault that looks cute as can be. It is one of those faults that you adore, but make sure to spay and neuter not breed. If the mother and father were AKC registered, then being a chocolate does not disqualify for registering with AKC, just disqualifies them to be shown. YTCA recommends NOT breeding them -- read
Yorkshire Terrier Club of America for more info on colors. It sounds like mom and/or dad were APRI registered and that has more to do with the APRI registration of the pup than the color. APRI is not a reputable registry. It was started by commercial dog breeders aka puppymills.
I think you are making the right decision to forgo breeding her. Just love, pamper, and spoil her -- but spay her and let her be a princess in your home without breeding. Some people will breed any two dogs that will mate. But a reputable breeder will stick with AKC, breed to standard, and put the health, temperment, breed and individual dogs above making money. You want todo it right, if you decide to breed.
Looking forward to seeing pictures of your little one! I am betting she is cute as a button! BTW this growth chart
Yorkshire Terrier - Yorkie Puppy Growth/Weight Chart - watch us grow has her coming in at a guesstimated adult weight of
4.5 - 5 pounds! Nice size and yes, she can be a great lap dog for you!
