If he isn't matted then he doesn't need to be shaved. If it is his first grooming he might not be perfect since grooming is something they have to learn to accept. Have then just EVEN him out. Ask for a
puppy cut and they will know what you are talking about. Yes, writing this all down is a very good idea. The Petsmart by me has a window to watch and I would stay for sure. Make sure you tell them this is his first grooming and possible have them SCISSOR cut him. The clippers sometimes make them nervous when they are first going.
