I understand how both parties would be concerned about getting scammed, and how a substantial deposit is necessary to ensure the seriousness of the adoption, but how do we go about it in a safe manner?

Just a question I had in mind as I'm researching to get my 2nd furbaby next year sometime
I take deposits after the kids are two weeks old, $500.00
this ensures the buyer is serious, cash final payment if local, or a check 10 days prior to shipping is acceptable to me. No one has ever complained about the size of the deposit.

I accept checks but dont release the kids or ship until the checks have cleared. I dont accept cashiers checks unless I know the person sending it nor do I use paypal or credit card.

hope this helps
